Strengthening Interfaith Harmony

On 11 December 2019 an interfaith festival-exhibition (ConFest) is held in Bishkek under the slogan “Listen to the people around you!”. This event is dedicated to issues of development of interfaith harmony and tolerance among representatives of various religious organizations of Kyrgyzstan.

ConFest will bring together representatives of 16 religious organizations - members of the Interfaith Council of Kyrgyzstan, which operates with the support of the State Commission for Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and is a platform for building dialogue between religious organizations, government agencies and the public.

This event is held in the framework of the implementation of the Concept Paper on State Policy in the Sphere of Religion of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2014-2020 and is aimed at developing approaches to strengthening interfaith dialogue, principles of respect for various views and beliefs, human rights and freedoms, tolerance and religious toleration, prevention of radicalism and extremism.

The festival-exhibition is also attended by citizens, for whom more than 10 creative master classes are demonstrated, where they get more detailed information about the specifics and peculiarities of social work of each organization.

This event is attended by representatives of government agencies and religious communities of the Kyrgyz Republic, and experts.

The event is organized by the State Commission for Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCRA KR), the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek and the Representative Office of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR) in Kyrgyzstan.
