History

The State Commission for Religious Affairs under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic was created by Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 45 dated 4 March 1996 “On Structure and Composition of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic” as an administration office under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

           Based on Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 533 dated 11 November 2005 “On Amendments and Additions to Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Improving the Structure of Government Agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic dated 15 October 2005 No. 462”, the State Commission for Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic was reorganized into the State Agency for Religious Affairs under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.

          As part of the reform of the public administration system of the Kyrgyz Republic in accordance with Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 425 "On Measures to Ensure Implementation of the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Structure of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic" dated 26 October 2009, the State Agency for Religious Affairs under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic was removed from the executive branch and reorganized into the State Commission for Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic defined as a body directly accountable and subordinate to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

         By Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 15 “On Transferring Certain State Bodies to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic” dated 21 January 2011, the State Commission for Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic was transferred to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. By Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic UP No. 9 dated 20 January 2012 “On Amendments and Additions to Decree of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Transferring Certain State Bodies to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic” dated 21 January 2011”, the State Commission for Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic passed under the control of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

             The State Commission for Religious Affairs under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic is the central body of the Kyrgyz Republic that works to formulate and implement state policy in the sphere of religion and coordinates the activities of state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of religion.
