On 27 January 2020 Zaiyrbek Ergeshov, Director of the State Commission for Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic met in Moscow with Mikhail Mishin, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs of the Russian Federation (FADN).

At the meeting they discussed the issues of holding events in the sphere of providing religious education stipulated by the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Commission for Religious Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic (SCRA KR) and the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs of the Russian Federation (FADN RF) signed in March 2019 following the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting participants also discussed joint activities to work with migrants from Kyrgyzstan in the Russian Federation, cooperation on the prevention of any form of discrimination on the basis of religion and ethnicity, prevention of the dissemination of radical and extremist ideas in accordance with the laws of their States and a number of other areas of interaction envisaged in the framework of the Action Plan to hold the Cross Year of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation and of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2020.
